Welcome to the November 2011 edition of the Bali Dynasty Resort Newsletter.
It is hard to believe where the year has gone!
The resort continues to be busy and forward bookings for the festive season are very strong with many of the special events we have planned booking out quickly. So if you are staying with us over the Festive Season and have not as yet made a booking for our special events then we recommend you do make prior reservations through our on line booking form.
In the month of November, there has been plenty of happenings in Bali, with the Commonwealth Tennis Tournament and the ASEAN summit being hosted in Bali with many of the worlds top leaders in town including Barrack Obama roads were closed, causing further traffic congestion and airspace cleared. With that all over Bali is now back to normal!
Read on for some more updates and information about the goings on in and around the resort. We would like especially thank all of those people that voted for us in the Indonesian Tourism and Travel Awards for 2011 / 12 where Bali Dynasty Resort was nominated as the Best Family resort in Indonesia.
We hope that you have a very enjoyable festive season and if you are not planning on visiting us shortly then we hope to see you in the New Year!
New Airport underway!
To facilitate the construction project at the Ngurah Rai International airport, the entrance and exit have been moved.
The old entrance to the south of Ngurah Rai Airport road is closed and has now moved to the north side of the airport on Jalan Kemayoran. The new entrance has also become the exit.
The transfer was made because the old entrance and exit will be used as access for heavy vehicles transporting project materials. Signs have been erected in order to facilitate the new entrance to airport users.
Ngurah Rai Airport is being developed to increase passenger capacity, and the building of a new international terminal is currently in process.
With this new terminal, the capacity will increase from 8 million people per year to 25 million people per year. The airport development project is targeted for completion in 2013.
Don't Travel without insurance!
A word of warning! We have encountered a few guests who have decided to travel without travel insurance and have been caught short. International Standard medical facilities on the island are extremely costly and this can be even more costly in the event that the hospitals cannot handle the situation here on the island and you have to be medically evacuated which can be as much as US25,000 for the evacuation alone.
With the tropical climate, making the risk of picking up some bug more likely, as well as perhaps the lower safety standards (ie pavements) than would be expected at home, the risks of injury are obviously much higher.
We would also like to remind you that should you hire a motorcycle and you are not holding a valid international driving license then even if you have insurance, this will be nul and void for any accident that might have occurred in conjunction with riding a motorcycle.
New Years Eve 2011-12
Due to popular demand we have amended our New Years Eve Function to a "Retro and Survival Party"
As in previous years the event will kick off at Sunset Bar where individuals will be allocated into different teams to perform various challenges. From there the party will move on to H2O where each team will be set more challenges and enjoy more food and drinks to see in the New Year before finishing up in Gracie Kelly's Irish pub!
Our Tour and Information Centre (located off the lobby) as well as providing advice on the best tours and activities available on the island to make your holiday that more enjoyable also offers a variety of equipment that can be rented such as laptops, playstations, strollers and disabled accessories.
Our food and beverage department also rents microwaves (which are standard in our Executive Suites) for those families who need to heat and sterilise bottles for their babies.
We try to think of everything!

However, with the BeerFest 2010 held in Singapore, came the first victory of Storm Beer, where it won two Bronze medals for it’s Storm Golden Ale, and a crowned Gold medal for Best Microbrewery. It is no coincidence that at the same event in 2011 marked another victory for Storm Beer, where it won again two Bronze medals for Storm Golden Ale, plus a Bronze medal and one Gold medal for Storm Iron Stout! The auspicious date of 11.11.11 was chosen by Prime Plaza Hotels and Resorts to role out its’ new vision amongst all its’ hotels throughout Indonesia.
The new Vision “PRIME” which means People Responsible Individually for Managing Excellence, has emerged through detailed research amongst all team members which identified that staff at the lowest level really want to play an active role in delighting customers as well as a recognition by management that involving staff in the decision making can really impact guest service delivery as well as impacting revenues and bottom lines for the hotels.
In order to support this new vision Prime Plaza Hotels and Resorts has invested considerably with the assistance of an external consultant to develop new tools and initiatives which will assist team members carry out the new vision. Examples are “Excellence Tools” that clarify the responsibility each team member plays, quantifies their expected contribution and clearly details how each task is done. In addition to this, new training programmes have been developed, supported by videos to encourage staff to present their ideas and suggestions and empower them to take actions to delight customers.
The Bali Dynasty Resort held the launch party on the 11.11.11 in conjunction with its' annual staff party to celebrate the launch of the new Vision.

Plaza Hotels focus on the business traveler and offer extensive meeting and banquet facilities, whilst the Resort brands, situated in prime resort locations, focus predominantly on the leisure traveler.
We recently visited our Charity Project in Pengalusan in North Eastern Bali and presented them with the 50 desk chairs that had been donated by many of our guests following our fundraising awareness that appeared on our facebook, website and in this newsletter.
The kids were delighted to receive their much need new desk chairs! Each chair is enscribed on the back with the name of the guest who donated the chair. Each child was told to take personal responsibility for their chairs. Each guest that made a donation will soon be receiving a picture of the chair they sponsored and a picture of the kid who is now responsible for looking after their chair!
It's a great way to personalise the donation and a great way for the kids to understand a sense of personal responsibility!
