Raise the Flag, Raise the Smiles Bali Dynasty Resort Commemorates the Independence Day
20 August 2015
Commemorating the 70th Independence Day of Indonesia, early morning on Monday, 17 August 2015, a few management and staff of the Bali Dynasty Resort attended the Independence Day Celebrations of a few remote mountain hamlets in Desa Ban which the resort has supported in conjunction with the East Bali Poverty Project since 2000.
The celebration began with a solemn flag hoisting ceremony by EBPP’s staff, all the children from the six schools of EBPP on the village’s dry river bed. A set of fun games were organised after the ceremony where the kids were allowed to have some fun as well as performances where they showcased their creativity and talent.
The Independence Day Celebration in Ban Village is an annual event hosted by East Bali Poverty Project and has gained consistent support from Bali Dynasty Resort. As in the previous years, Bali Dynasty Resort sponsored fresh fruit and 265 hygiene kits, including tooth brush, tooth paste, towels and soaps for all the children.
“The Bali Dynasty Resort, through fundraising activities and generous donations from guests has become one of the largest sponsors of the East Bali Poverty Project and has raised over 3 billion rupiah since 2000” said Robert Kelsall, General Manager of the Bali Dynasty Resort.
The donations mainly come from guests as well as special events such as the twice weekly quiz nights in Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub every Tuesday and Thursday evening as a well as major annual fundraiser in Perth; the Back to Bali Dynasty Party, which is held in February each year and is supported by all the resort’s major Australian travel partners and many of the resort’s loyal guests.
East Bali Poverty Project is a non profit organisation and local charity providing sustainable education, health, water, sanitation and bamboo reforestation and environmental programmes to impoverished families living in the 19 scattered mountain hamlets across Ban Village, in remote East Bali.
