Bali Dynasty Resort recently launched its new charity programme in partnership with Solemen during its biggest annual fundraising event, the 23^rd Back to Bali Dynasty Party, in Perth, Western Australia.

Held on the 20^th of February 2016 at Subiaco Football Club, Perth, the party was attended by over 200 of the resort’s loyal guests who are mostly Western Australia residents. Bali Dynasty Resort has long been known to have a huge number of repeat and loyal guests who keep coming back every year to the resort and are very supportive towards the charity effort. The announcement of the new charity was received very positively by the crowd; who were both eager to splash out on the purchase of raffle tickets of which over AU$7000 was raised for some great prizes as well as interested to learn how they could assist in the long term.

Having supported the East Bali Poverty Project for the past 15 years; the Bali Dynasty Resort raised a total of 3.1 billion rupiah to support the education programmes in an impoverished area in North East Bali. It was therefore decided to change the fundraising efforts to another cause as the community had become more affluent and more able to fend for themselves reaching the ultimate goal of self sustainability.

The new Charity Effort is targeting the less fortunate people in Bali through collaborative work with Solemen under a tagline “Helping Friends for Life”. “There are various ways in which people can help” said Robert Kelsall, General Manager, Bali Dynasty Resort, “the focus is more subjective and personal as we begin to help individuals overcome their difficulties”. In addition to the $2 to checkout promotion, funds are also collected at the poolside Bingo and Pub Quiz Nights as well as in Charity boxes around the resort.

Yayasan Solemen Indonesia or simply “SOLEMEN” is a Bali-based Indonesian registered non-profit foundation working alongside accredited agencies and projects to alleviate suffering and support the disadvantaged in Bali. Solemen was formed in October 2010 by founder Robert Esptone, who then vowed to walk barefoot until he raised a million dollars. The reason for being barefoot is “to be in solidarity with those who don’t have a choice to wear or not wear shoes”.
