Bali Dynasty’s Monthly Cleaning Blitz

At the Bali Dynasty Resort, we conduct a routine cleaning blitz every month as part of our staff activity programme. This crusade aims to clean up designated areas within the resort, be it the beach, back-of-the-house area or the staff canteen. However, the most important aspect of all is to work together as a team, build social responsibility and take control for our own environment. This monthly initiative is attended by the General Manager, Didit Indra, together with representatives from all of the resort’s different departments.

Java, Bali and Lombok Voted Top 3 Best Islands in the World!

The word 'island' usually conjures thoughts of sun-soaked sands, idyllic turquoise ocean and gently swaying palm trees. But a new World's Best survey conducted by Travel & Leisure proves there is no single formula for paradise.
Based on activities, natural attractions, beaches, food and friendliness, thousands of wanderlust enthusiasts voted for their favourite island havens around the world. Beating out traditional favourites like Maui in Hawaii, Bora Bora and Tahiti, the densely populated Indonesian island of Java took first place.

Described as the 'heart of a nation', Java is the economic and geographic centre of Indonesia and serves as home to 141 million people. Lying in between Sumatra and popular Bali, Java featured on the World's Best list for the first time this year thanks to its' powerful waterfalls, longstanding local traditions, conservation areas and awesome nature.

It was a clean sweep for Indonesia, with neighbouring Bali and Lombok nabbing second and third place respectively. Read the full article by dailymail.co.uk

Charity Update

SoleBuddies are the people in need who our partners at Solemen, a Bali-based non-profit foundation, choose to help for an extended period of time. This commitment will provide them with ongoing support for education, health issues or a Sole Outreach Programme. Meet our latest SoleBuddy, Ni Wayan Darma Astiti, a nine-year-old girl from Klungkung who suffers from cerebral palsy and epilepsy. She is unable to sit, speak or eat anything other than liquidised food. Fortunately, Solemen has been able to provide her with a new wheelchair and a bean bag using funds raised through Bali Dynasty’s charity program and of course your kind support!

Now meet I Made Warsi aged 78 and Nyomane Bajera aged 77, our most recent SoleNeed recipients. They are an elderly couple from Tabanan who have lived together since marrying a decade ago. Both have been unable to walk due to old age and frailty. Severely impoverished, the pair were significantly isolated from their local community due to being immobile. However, thanks to the generosity of guests staying at Bali Dynasty Resort, Solemen has been able to provide them with a wheelchair each. They are now once again engaging with others and are generally much happier.

It is our hope that these wheelchairs will help them cope with the challenges of daily village life.  Their strong relationship is a source of inspiration for all of us and further proof that commitment is an essential tool for survival in times of need.

Bali Kite Festival

The Bali Kite Festival is an annual undertaking held on the island during July and August. The event highlights Bali’s unique culture, drawing thousands of visitors each year. The timing of the kite festival is key as it marks the start of the windy season. If you would like to participate in flying a kite, interact with the locals and enjoy the sun and sea, then make your way to Padanggalak, a coastal region north of the tourist town of Sanur.

Check in with the Tourist Information Centre when you arrive to see when this event is scheduled to take place as the exact dates are in accordance with prevailing weather conditions. Once everything is set, locals will gather to compete with foreigners in a challenging kite flying competition. If you head down to the beach to watch or take part, you will see a sky filled with kites of all shapes, sizes and colours soaring above the crowds. History has it that the festival started off as a ritual to thank the gods for bountiful harvests and fertility, but has since grown to become one of the most remarkable events on Bali’s annual calendar. Prizes are given to the most distinct and creative kites. If you love kites, and are a fan of the outdoors, then the Bali Kite Festival is perfect for you. (Source: balitravelhub.com)

Indonesian Independence Day

This year marks Indonesia's 73rd year of independence. The day is celebrated on the 17th August, as red-and-white national flags adorn the streets and flag raising ceremonies take place at the government offices, schools and many public institutions.

During the weeks leading up to Independence Day, expect to see decorations all across the island, from the front entrances of houses and offices to malls, hotels and restaurants. Some local neighbourhoods will arrange fun games and activities for kids such as sack races, cracker eating competitions, eel-catching and much more.

At the Bali Dynasty Resort, we will conduct a customary early morning flag ceremony with staff members on 17th August. This will be followed by games and competitions for everyone to enjoy. Several charity events hosted throughout the month will also highlight the importance of giving back by raising money for those in need.
