Where Your March Holiday Begins
March brings a meaningful atmosphere to Bali, as the island prepares to welcome the Balinese Caka New Year. It is a month filled with colour, creativity and reflection. Guests visiting during this period have the opportunity to witness the impressive Ogoh-Ogoh parades, where giant handcrafted statues are carried through the streets in a vibrant community celebration, followed by Nyepi, the Day of Silence, a full day dedicated to rest, and quiet across the island.
At Bali Dynasty Resort, we honour these traditions while continuing to create a relaxed and welcoming space for families, couples, and leisure travellers. Throughout the month, our team has prepared a range of activities and experiences designed to help you connect with Balinese culture, enjoy quality time together, and make the most of your stay.
Families can look forward to engaging cultural activities for children at the Kids’ Club, from creative activity inspired by local traditions, to interactive games by the pool.
Our daily recreation programme remains full of energy, with water activities, friendly competitions, and opportunities to meet other guests in a fun and easy going setting.
Food lovers will discover something new this month as well. From themed dining nights featuring local flavours, to relaxed evenings at our restaurants and bars, there are plenty of options to suit every taste. If you have not yet visited COKLAT, our dedicated chocolate room, located next to Café Piazza, this is the perfect time to stop by for handcrafted Balinese cacao creations, refreshing chocolate drinks, and sweet treats to take away.
Over at Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub, March continues with St. Patrick’s Day, the biggest party event of the year at Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub, that will feature live music, great food, and a lively atmosphere. Keep an eye out for special promotions, and event highlights happening throughout the month.
This month, we are proud to take part in Earth Hour, a global movement encouraging individuals and businesses to switch off non-essential lights for one hour, as a symbol of environmental awareness and collective action. We invite our guests to join us in this meaningful initiative, and be part of a simple yet powerful moment for the planet.
Whether you are here to experience the island’s cultural traditions, relax by the pool, enjoy time with family, or simply slow down for a few days, March offers a unique blend of celebration and calm. We look forward to welcoming you and sharing everything this special month has in store. We hope you enjoy reading our online newsletter. The Day of Silence in Bali - What to Expect, and How to Enjoy the Day of Silence
As Bali prepares to welcome the Balinese Caka New Year, the island enters one of its most meaningful traditions called ‘Nyepi’, the Day of Silence. This sacred occasion is dedicated to reflection, renewal and balance, offering a rare opportunity to experience Bali in complete stillness.
What to Expect During Nyepi day
Nyepi begins at 6am and lasts for 24 hours. Across the island, daily activities pause. The airport closes, streets become empty, and beaches fall quiet. It is a day guided by the philosophy of Catur Brata Penyepian, the four prohibitions observed by the Balinese Hindu community : Amati Karya means no work, Amati Geni means no fire or lights, Amati Lelungan means no travelling, Amati Lelanguan means no entertainment.
This tradition symbolises purification for the people and the natural world. The result is a peaceful atmosphere rarely experienced anywhere else, a full day where nature takes centre stage.
How to Enjoy Nyepi at the Resort
While the island rests on 19 March 2026, in-house guests can enjoy a relaxed and comfortable stay within the resort grounds.
Start the morning with a leisurely breakfast, and embrace the slower pace of the day. A special buffet dinner will be available in the evening, bringing guests together in a warm and welcoming setting as the New Year begins.
Families will be pleased to know that:
- Kupu-Kupu Kids’ Club (ages 4–8)
- Teens’ activities (ages 9–16)
- Kids’ Water Fun Zone
All will remain open, with a variety of supervised activities throughout the day.
Without traffic noise or city lights, the evening sky feels especially clear. It is a rare opportunity to pause, reflect, and enjoy the unique stillness that makes Nyepi so special.
Best Place to watch Ogoh-Ogoh (Paper Mâché Statue) Parade in Bali
If you’re visiting Bali in March, one cultural highlights not to miss is the Ogoh-Ogoh parade, held on 18th March 2026, the evening before Nyepi.
These impressive paper-mâché statues represent negative forces or spirits, and are paraded through the streets in a lively and symbolic cleansing ritual ahead of the Day of Silence. Accompanied by traditional music, and energetic crowds, it’s one of the most striking cultural events on the island.
Here are some of the best places to watch the Ogoh-Ogoh parade:
Denpasar
As Bali’s capital, Denpasar hosts some of the largest and most creative Ogoh-Ogoh displays. Streets around Catur Muka, and central Denpasar, are usually lively with multiple villages showcasing their handcrafted Ogoh-Ogoh.
Ubud
Known for its artistic community, Ubud often features highly detailed and imaginative Ogoh-Ogoh creations. The parade atmosphere here blends tradition with creativity.
Kuta, Legian & Seminyak
If you’re staying in South Bali, you won’t need to travel far. Many local banjars (community groups) organise parades along main streets in Kuta, and surrounding areas.
Sanur
Sanur offers a slightly more relaxed setting, while still showcasing beautiful Ogoh-Ogoh statues from local communities.
Experience the Parade at Bali Dynasty Resort
For in-house guests, the celebration begins right here at the resort.
On 18th March 2026 at 5pm, Bali Dynasty Resort will host its own Ogoh-Ogoh parade within the resort grounds. Watch as our towering statue is carried in procession by our team, marking the symbolic cleansing ahead of Nyepi. Guests are welcome to join in and help carry the Ogoh-Ogoh, offering a meaningful way to connect with Balinese tradition in a comfortable setting.
Tips For Watching Ogoh-Ogoh
- Arrive early as roads can become crowded.
- Wear comfortable footwear.
- Stay hydrated in the late afternoon heat.
- Respect local customs, and follow community guidance.
The Ogoh-Ogoh parade is a vibrant contrast to the stillness that follows on Nyepi, 19th March 2026. Together, these two days offer a unique opportunity to witness both the energy and serenity of Balinese culture.

Guest Feedback

Always a great place to stay, Had a great time, the staff are brilliant - Scott W
Everything was good. Service was great and timely. Room clean and big, bed and pillows comfortable, shower good with pump gel, shampoo and conditioner bottles. Ate at H20 (main dining area), Italian, and Irish Pub, all great service, and food was very good. Numerous pools for adults and children, and toddlers. Plenty of pool lounges. Water was warm. I’m at a different resort now, and pool water is refreshingly cool compared to Dynasty. Happy hour at Dynasty was good value with half price drinks. Location is close to restaurants, bars, shops. ATM, a 10-minute walk, as is Waterbom Park. Back exit of resort to beach passes a Warung for food and drinks. Husband enjoyed chicken satay sticks many times. Photo is view from our balcony of temple next door - Christine_Brian, Lake Macquarie, NSW
The resort is fantastic. Have activities for both children and adults. The resort is very clean. The restaurants in the resort are first class, especially the Golden Lotus Chinese restaurant. But I think the best part of the resort is its staff, they are so friendly and attentive. I will be back - Don M
Had an amazing time with a great welcoming and family atmosphere, staff all so friendly and helpful! Great facilities/ restaurants and amenities. Rooms are extremely clean as is the resort! Great location, and excellent value for money. Caters for both family with children, as well as adults enjoying a break - Adrian C
The Bali Dynasty Resort truly feels like our home away from home. This was our third stay, and each time it feels like we’re arriving back home. The facilities for the children are second to none, and having visited multiple family resorts across Bali, we can confidently say this one stands out. The care and attention the resort shows to its guests is exceptional, from remembering our names, to hosting the wonderful guest appreciation cocktail evening. We are already excited to return again next year and see our Bali favourites. A very special thank you to Yuni, Warsi, Bob, and the entire management team - Kayla M
Amazing service, welcoming, very friendly and extremely accommodating. 2nd stay at the Bali Dynasty, and already booked to come back in October, we cannot wait to return. Very entertaining for all ages - Cassie C
We had the best experience at Dynasty because of Yuni! She is the reason we come back every year because of her service and care. She also remembers our kid’s names and my parents, who don’t stay at Dynasty. This is the type of service that you want when going on a holiday, she is a massive asset to the business! 10/10 for Yuni - 22jyem, Melbourne
16th time to Dynasty, have stayed at other resorts, but Dynasty is superb. Easy to get around, plenty to do at resort, and their biggest asset THE STAFF. Everyone makes you feel so welcome every single day you are there. Great for all ages, from youngest to the elderly - Susan B, Brisbane
A True Home Away From Home, Like Family. From the moment we arrived at Bali Dynasty Resort, we were welcomed with the warmest smiles, and genuine kindness. This place truly feels like a home away from home. The staff don’t just look after you, they treat you like family. Every interaction felt heartfelt, personal and sincere. The service is simply outstanding. Nothing is ever too much trouble, and you can tell the team genuinely care about making your stay special. It’s that rare kind of hospitality that makes you feel safe, relaxed, and completely looked after. The pools are incredible, whether you want to unwind peacefully, or enjoy the lively family atmosphere, there’s something for everyone. The overall vibe is fun, yet calming at the same time. We also made so many new friends during our stay, both other guests and beautiful staff, which made the experience even more special. What truly makes Bali Dynasty special though is the feeling. It’s welcoming, joyful, and full of heart. You don’t just stay here, you belong here! We left feeling refreshed, grateful, and already planning our next trip back. This isn’t just a resort. it’s a second home, where we created beautiful memories and lifelong friendships. Thank you team Bali Dynasty – Nikki N
