Christmas & New Year Celebrations at Bali Dynasty

Don't let the palm trees and balmy outside temperatures mislead you.

It may have been hot outside, but the Festive Season was in full effect around the resort through December. Thankfully the rainy season held off the and the spirit of Christmas was well and truly with us. Our guests were welcomed by our 4-meter-tall Christmas tree that adorned our Lobby, which was a favorite with guests for a photo opportunity.

It was great to see so many long stay Returnee guests join us again, as the Festive proceedings got under way on Christmas Eve at H2O. It was an unforgettable Christmas day as more than 300 guests joined our Christmas lunch at Sen5es and H2O. Guests were treated to Christmas carols from a local ‘Hope’ Children’s Home Choir, there was not a dry eye in the house when the Kids sang ‘White Christmas’ and the Christmas Buffet on offer had absolutely everything you can imagine for a Festive Banquet.

Our New Year’s Eve celebrations began at H2O with an exclusive dinner with live music, a Bartender Show by the amazing F&B Team, and a spectacular Fire Dance Show by the very popular Recreation Team.
After dinner it was time to move to a great night at Gracie Kelly’s for Live Music, DJ, Games and Entertainment until that all important countdown to the New Year.

It’s Australian Day mate! - Gracie Kelly’s goes Down Under

To celebrate Australia day on the 26th January, Gracie Kelly’s says G’day mate, as we have an Aussie weekend extravaganza beginning on the 26th January.

From 6pm onwards dig into Aussie meat pies, Bangers and Mash and other Aussie favorites on the Gracie’s menu. Gracies will also have various beers and cocktails on special offer, and live music to give you some foot stomping music.

Don’t miss a real Aussie night out, and no one throws a party quite like the Irish!

Within the resort at H2O restaurant will also be featuring their popular Aussie BBQ on Saturday the 27th January!

Chinese New Year at Golden Lotus - 9th & 10th February

GONG XI FA CHAI We have a special Chinese New Year celebration at Golden Lotus Restaurant featuring Special Shows to celebrate the Year of the Wood Dragon.

In conjunction with Chinese New Year, Golden Lotus is offering a Special “YEE SANG “Set Menu.

“YEE SANG is A Chinese Salad made up of Thinly sliced Carrots, Shredded Yam, Pickles, white Sesame, Chopped Peanut, Mandarin Orange leaf, Spring Onion, Regular Onion, Sweet Potato, Chinese Spices, with Salmon fish fillet mixed with Golden Lotus Special Sauce.

The Chinese believe that if they eat “Yee Sang “during Chinese New Year that Life and Business will be prosperous and will warrant good luck. For those preferring a full Yee Sang Prosperity Set Menu we offer the “HONG WAN SALMON YEE SANG SET MENU“.

Management Vs Guests Pool Volleyball

Friday afternoons at Bali Dynasty have become quite a talking point amongst our regular guests as it is the time of the week when the guests get the opportunity to challenge the hotel Management to a Pool Volleyball game.

Grown ups can join in the weekly game against our intrepid team of department heads in a ‘best of three’ games.

The losing team has to buy the beer!!

It’s also a great opportunity for guests to meet the management and exchange feedback over an informal after match drink.

Cultural Event

You may have noticed that on the first week of any month there are colorful ceremonies all around Bali marking the appearance of the full moon. Many of the temple festivals in the mountain villages are on purnama (the full moon).

The ceremonies follow the Balinese Lunar calendar or Saka Calendar that operates to determine particular events in the lives of the Balinese, especially for the farmers in the rural areas of Bali. This calendar is determined by the phases of the moon, the most important days being purnama (full moon) & tilem (new moon). Nyepi (Balinese New Year) is also determined using this calendar, the eve of Nyepi falling on the night of the new moon whenever it occurs around March/April each year.

Whether you chose to go to a festival or just want to watch the glow on the water, there is nothing like a full moon in Bali.

Heart of the House – Gede Eka Budiastawa.

Known as ‘Dede’ to all his friends and colleagues, is said to light up the accounting office with his forever smiling face and happy demeanor. Dede is a very well liked for his personality and dedication. Congratulations Dede for winning November’s ‘Heart of the House’ employee award.

If you have ever visited the Bali Dynasty Kids Club then you would have met Dwi.   Dwi has been an integral part of the Kids Club Team for quite a long time who looks after all our lovely Kids Club members on a daily basis. Patience and understanding is Dwi’s strong points and it shows, as the Kids love her. Congratulations Dwi for winning November’s ‘Front of the House’ employee award.

Tour of The month : DEVDAN

Devdan – Treasure of the Archipelago is a spectacular stage performance in Bali.

This show features a fusion of traditional Indonesian dance activities with modern contemporary dance, world-class aerial acrobatic attractions, dazzling costumes and hi-tech special effects. The performance is unique because it focuses on the diversity of cultures across Indonesia, from Bali to Sumatra, Java, Borneo and Papua with an extensive array of special effects, acrobatics and traditional dance and music. In addition to the traditional presentation of diversity and uniqueness of Indonesia, the performance deliberately combines contemporary music and "hip hop" dance, making the show very dynamic and entertaining for audiences of all ages from around the world.

The show is one of the most amazing Bali attractions and ensures to provide a perfect choice to fulfil your entertainment activities during your stay in Bali. The show is performed four times per week. Be sure to book your seat early and get ready for the most amazing Bali show available.

Charity Quiz at Gracie Kelly’s

Every Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm at Gracie Kelly's Irish pub we present our Charity Trivia Quiz Nights, when Quiz teams do battle answering questions about Music, Movies, Food and basic General knowledge. Theres also some kid friendly questions in there too, with drink prizes for the grown-ups, and Brownie and Ice Cream prizes for the kids, it's definitely a family affair. All donations on the night go to the Charity organizations that the Bali Dynasty support such as ‘Soulmen’ and ‘Bali Children’s Project’, and for more information on those two organizations you can find a Charity information display board next to the reception area of the Bali Dynasty.

For a great fun night out with a live band playing after the Quiz join us at Gracies on Tuesdays and Thursdays, and bring your thinking cap!

Charity Update

Novi, who is soon turning 18, is a second-year senior high school student, or 11th grader, from Gianyar.

Novi has an older brother who recently graduated from senior high school but faces challenges in securing stable employment to assist with Novi’s school fees. Furthermore, he has outstanding debts from his own senior high school expenses. Novi’s younger sister is currently in kindergarten.

Novi's parents, who themselves discontinued their education, work as laborers and earn less than the minimum wage through various manual labor activities such as working in rice fields or construction sites. Novi, since starting senior high school as a freshman last year, has been unable to pay her school fees, accumulating a debt of $350, which may force her to drop out if not addressed.

Despite these challenges, Novi is passionate about Culinary Arts and aspires to become a chef, specializing in tourism at a vocational senior high school. Cooking has been her hobby, especially since her parents are occupied during the day. Although her primary interest lies in the culinary arts, Novi has chosen Spa Club as her extracurricular activity, appreciating the intricacies of professional spa treatment.

With only one motorbike in the family, Novi relies on rides from friends to commute to school. To contribute to her family's income, she engages in tasks such as making offerings and babysitting for neighbors, although these opportunities are not consistent. On average, Novi earns $1 per day, a meager sum that falls far short of covering her school expenses.

Made Novianti is currently in grade 10, with one year and seven months remaining until completion. The monthly school fee is 580,000 IDR, resulting in a total requirement of 11,020,000 IDR.
