Charity Update

New Project: Toilets and Showers for Seven Families in North Bali. Solemen and Bali Dynasty Resort are now planning to install two community toilets and two shower blocks for seven families in Desa Patas, Gerokgak, North Bali. Currently the families use the beach and the sea as the toilet.

This project will improve the safety, sanitation and quality of life of the twenty-six people including three elderly, one disabled adult and seven children. This project is in line with our commitment to give back to the community, especially to the unfortunate/disadvantaged people who do not benefit from the island’s flourishing tourism sector.

The total investment for the project is estimated around 14 million rupiah. Fund for this project will be collected through the twice-a-week Gracie Kelly’s Quiz Night on Tuesday and Thursday at 7.30pm, the pool activities, donation boxes around the resort and the non-compulsory $2 to check out. You can also join the fundraising by adopting the SoleTeddy with a minimum donation of IDR 100,000 to the charity account.

Bali Dynasty Resort visited the Kintamani Landslide Victims
On the 22nd of February,  representatives from Bali Dynasty Resort, Sanur Paradise Plaza Hotel, Sanur Paradise Plaza Suites and Amadea Resort & Villas Seminyak Bali visited the community in Songan Village who were recently affected by the fatal landslides. Our visit was to deliver some donations and give moral support to them as they cope with the aftermath of the event which claimed 13 lives and destroyed many houses. Our heart and prayers go to the families and the victims of this unfortunate event.

Culture Calendar

Melasti Pilgrimage – 25 March 2017

In conjunction to the coming of Nyepi Day (the New Year according to Saka calendar), the whole island performs Melasti Pilgrimages. This is the procession where the Hindu people in Bali take heirlooms in long walks from temples towards the coastlines where purification rites take place. Parasols, banners and small effigies paraded along the horizon make for a stunning and only-in-Bali scene.

This year Melasti Pilgrimages will be on 25th of March 2016. Visitors can see the rituals in Kuta or Sanur beach. It is advised to check with the locals when the celebration will begin.

Nyepi Day – 28 March 2017

Nyepi is a Balinese "Day of Silence" that is commemorated as the New Year celebration according to Saka Calendar. It is a Hindu celebration mainly celebrated in Bali, Indonesia. Unlike the grand celebration of other calendars’ New Year, Nyepi is celebrated in a complete silence, fasting and meditation.

The island will observe Nyepi from 6am on 28th of March to 6am the following day. Local regulations concerning Nyepi that consists of no lighting fires (and lights must be kept low), no working, no entertainment or pleasure and no travelling will apply. All of these will make the island appear deserted.

Although Nyepi is primarily a Hindu holiday, non-Hindu residents and tourists are not exempt from the restrictions. Activities may be held with minimal noise within the hotels’ premises but it is strictly forbidden for the guests to stay outside onto the beaches or streets. The only airport in Bali remains closed for the entire day. The only exceptions granted are for emergency vehicles responding to life-threatening conditions and women about to give birth.

On the day after Nyepi, known as Ngembak Geni, social activity picks up again quickly, as families and friends gather to ask forgiveness from one another, and to perform certain religious rituals together.

Omed-omedan Festival – 29 March 2017

Also known as the “festival of splashes and smooches”, the Omed-omedan Festival is a unique event to watch after observing the Day of Silence. The festival is a much-localized event, pertaining to the lesser Banjar Kaja community of Sesetan Area, around 30 minutes from the Bali Dynasty Resort. The youths take to the street where water is splashed and sprayed by the surrounding villagers, and the highlight being two sides, boys and girls, in a tug-of-war-like scene with successive pairs in the middle ‘forced’ to smooch at each shove and push.

Tour of the Month

Imagine hanging from your knees and swinging on the trapeze, then the freedom of flying through the air and the thrill of being caught by one of our experienced professional staff. Overcome self-doubt, build your confidence with a whole new skill set and recharge your batteries in a challenging but safe evironment.

High Flyers Bali offers a unique opportunity to experience the exhilaration of flying trapeze and circus workshop under tropical blue skies while visiting this island paradise.

High Flyers Bali offers trapeze classes six days per week and teaches flyers between the ages of 5 and 65 so all the family can join and make it a holiday you will never forget. Flyers can sign up for a single class to feel the rush and learn a basic trick. But be warned it can become a passion so High Flyers Bali also offers packages for multiple classes.

With each class, a flyer achieves more tricks and develops more skills to include catches and somersaults. Classes are kept small so that each flyer can be given individual attention and have time to develop their skills. For those not adventurous to try trapeze High Flyers Bali has a bungee trampoline, where you can bounce up to 2 metres performing somersaults.

In addition to the trapeze classes, High Flyers Bali also offers a Circus Workshop where participants can learn juggling, diabolo, plates spinning and more to develop their coordination skills and most of all have great fun! In addition to this we have Birthday Party packages available.

Watch the excitement of learning to fly with High Flyers Bali in a video here.
