Tuesday Talent Show at the Upperdeck @H2O

The newest addition to the Upperdeck @H2O is our Tuesday Talent Show. The fancy rooftop venue now showcases the best talents from our staff. Enjoy the following performance from:
Kevin (Kitchen) – the Beatboxer. He has good skills in mimicking many types of sound including classic drum set, turn table, electronic effects, trumpet, and electric guitar.

Pramadi (Bar) – the Fire Juggler. Flair bartending is something that he is keen to study. Now that he has learnt the skills, he’s happy to entertain you with his juggling skill. To add the tension, he is going to play with fire.
 
Hendra (H2O) – the Solo Guitarist. His soulful voice and the soft melody from his guitar truly make a delightful evening. Enjoy his performance while sipping your favourite cocktails under the stars.

Sip afternoon tea in the gazebo. Set next to the newly-landscaped Balinese pond and surrounding gardens, the gazebo provides intimate and relaxing scene for an afternoon tea.

Feel the surprisingly pleasant tickles of the fish spa. Simply immerse your feet in with the fish, and they will then feed gently upon the loose skin removing it in a not unpleasant tickly manner. The freshly cleaned and exfoliated skin feels smooth to the touch.

Cycling on the boardwalk. The resort provides bikes for you to borrow for free every day at our Tour & Information Centre. Grab one and have fun riding on the boardwalk along the beach as you breathe the fresh air in the morning or enjoy the magnificent view of sunset on the horizon.

SKBBA Penjor & Gebogan Competition, 5th of February 2016
On Friday, 5th of February 2016, businesses in the South Kuta Beach area will be participating in a Penjor and Gebogan Competition, organised by the South Kuta Beach Business Association (SKBBA) and Kuta Village, to prepare for Galungan.

Penjor is a slender, eight-metre high, gracefully arching bamboo pole, festooned with colourful flowers, fruit, unhusked rice and palm frond ornamentation, with an offering at the base. The aim of placing penjors at Galungan is to show devotion to God in his manifestation as the god of the mountain (Hyang Giri Pati). Gebogan, is a Balinese offering with the reflection of a mountain shape or triangle. This offering consists of many kinds of fruits, flowers and other ornaments that is arranged in a triangle shape.

All the SKBBA hotels, together with other businesses in the area, will place their penjor in front of the entrance to their premises. Visitors to the South Kuta Beach area will be amazed by the beautiful, Balinese atmosphere within the South Kuta Beach streets during this 10-day celebration.

The event will start at 1pm at the VIP Parking LIPPO MALL KUTA on Jalan Kartika. It will be followed by the SKBBA Food & Entertainment Festival with various culinary delights and art performance take place until the night from the 5th to 8th February 2016.

Galungan & Kuningan – 10th and 20th February 2016
Great celebration is coming to the Island of Gods as the Balinese will celebrate Galungan and Kuningan—the most important Hindu holidays. Galungan is a Balinese holiday that signifies the victory of Virtue (Dharma) over Evil (Adharma). This important festival occurs every 210 days. It will begin this year on Wednesday 10th of February and will last for 10 days. During this time, the Balinese gods and ancestral spirits descend to Earth to be honoured. They will leave on Kuningan, which is the final day of the holiday that falls on the 20th of February.

Before the day of Galungan and Kuningan, Hindu people in Bali are very busy preparing for the religious ceremonial offerings and Bali's streets are adorned with bright and colourful penjor, bamboo poles with offerings for the entire period between Galungan and Kuningan.
