Gracie Kelly’s Irish Pub will again be the host for Melbourne Cup 2015 in Bali Dynasty Resort. Mark your calendar to join the great excitement with your band of friends watching the annual event that defines Australian horse racing live from our big screen. The event will start at 11am onwards.

Charity News - Painting Exhibition for Charity

The Bali Dynasty Charity Effort was established in early 2000 and thanks to the generosity of the hotel's guests and business partners the hotel has been able to fully sponsor education projects in two villages in a remote area of Northeast Bali in association with the East Bali Poverty Project giving hope now to over 90 children who are being educated through an innovative curriculum, which is designed to give long term sustainability to the villages.

In conjunction with our long commitment to East Bali Poverty Project, early this month we launched a charity painting exhibition at our recently refurbished Café Piazza. The paintings are the beautiful works of I Wayan Lias, an aspiring young artist from Cegi Village.

Previously a student of East Bali Poverty Project’s school, Lias obtained full scholarship from Bali Dynasty Resort to continue his study to the university. Counting days to his graduation, he can’t wait to start giving back to the community.

Visit Café Piazza to see Lias’ beautiful works before 31 December 2015. All paintings are on sale with all proceeds will be used to further sponsor the education programmes of the foundation. Any purchased paintings can be rolled for easy packaging and shipping.

Bali is the Target for Clean Energy Pilot Project

The Indonesian government announced its plan to use Bali as the pilot area for a complete conversion to clean energy by 2018 at the renewable Energy Forum held in Nusa Dua in October. There will be three stages in the programme, first to replace the old diesel power plant, preparing the energy system and developing the clean energy in Bali.

Part of the initial plan is to convert the Governor’s offices to solar power and to convert Ngurah Rai airport to clean energy by 2016. The plan is in line with Indonesia’s commitment to convert to 25% renewable energy by 2025 in line with the United Nations agreements, while the Bali targets are a 90% conversion by 2018/19.

Indonesia Air Asia X now Flies Direct Bali-Sydney

Low cost carrier Indonesia Air Asia X launched its new direct Bali-Sydney route on Saturday 17 October. The launching of direct flights to Sydney represents the continual expansion of Indonesia Air Asia X’s route network to Australia and throughout Southeast Asia following the launch of direct flights to Melbourne earlier this year. This direct flight Bali–Sydney will serve the passengers five times in a week using Airbus A330-300. The aircraft is known to have 377 seats with 12 flatbed seats for business class and 365 seats for economy class.

Bali Dynasty Resort Participates Again in this Year Tri Hita Karana Awards

A-three-times-consecutive-Emerald-winner, Bali Dynasty Resort again participated in the Tri Hita Karana Awards. This year, the resort qualifies for the Platinum Medal. The assessment was done by a panel of judges on 13th October 2015 with the announcement going public sometime in November or December.

The Bali Dynasty Resort is committed to continue to operate at a high environmental standard by using the earth check software and Green Globe Lite benchmarking to review and measure results. The Bali Dynasty Resort successfully benchmarked against key environmental indicators using the Earthcheck™ tool including energy and water consumption, total waste production and community commitment.

Tri Hita Karana is a Balinese philosophy to accomplish happiness through harmonisation of the relationship between humans and God (parahyangan), humans and humans (pawongan) and humans and environment (palemahan). Tri Hita Karana Awards were initiated in 2000 to recognise hospitality operators for adopting this local value in their operation. Four years later the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UN-WTO) endorsed the awards. The awards also gained further support when in 2010 the philosophy became part of the Bali Clean and Green roadmap.

Annual Religious Temple Ceremony at Bali Dynasty Resort’s Temple

On 27 October 2015, Bali Dynasty Resort held its annual religious temple ceremony in accordance to the rise of the fifth full moon according to Balinese lunar calendar. The ceremony gained full support from all the staff of the resort, with everyone gathering around the temple wearing their finest Balinese traditional attire from early morning. The ceremony featured elaborated offerings of fruits and flowers, traditional Balinese ensemble music, Balinese dance performance and entertainment. This annual temple ceremony was led by a Hindu priest aimed to invoke blessings and harmony for everyone at the resort and maintain the purity of the holy ground. Due to the nature of the ceremony, it is considered essential according the Balinese religious belief.

Saraswati Day, 28th November 2015

This day is devoted to Dewi Saraswati, the Goddess of Science & Knowledge. Books of knowledge, manuscripts and the Vedas are blessed and special offerings are made for them.

As with other religious days in Bali, there are also ritual activities before and after the day of Saraswati itself. The day before the Saraswati is called Pengeradanaan, a day to prepare for Saraswati both spiritually and physically. Books are cleaned and properly arranged.

On Saraswati Day, the Balinese make offerings to their books. Students celebrate at school, usually in the morning. The Saraswati Day is not a day off work, so all offices are open.

The day after Saraswati is called Banyu Pinaruh. Early in the morning of Banyu Pinaruh Day, people will go the beaches, rivers and springs to purify themselves and pray for wisdom.

Tour of the Month - Surf the Night Away at Waterbom

One of South Kuta’s attractions, Waterbom Bali has recently unveiled its new attraction to entertain the island’s fun seekers: the FlowRider surfing machine.

Below palm trees, in the midst of waterslides, pools, and 3.8 hectares of tropical gardens stands a 9.8m by 16.45m Double FlowRider sheet wave surfing machine. The power behind the wave is incredible and guarantees for some heart pounding action in the water. This double sheet wave generator leaves ample room to carve, lie down, stand, and stunt on an endless wave. It is the ultimate thrill on a relaxing night in the middle of the quiet and serene Waterbom water park after official opening hours.

If you are looking for some out of the box activities to do after hours, FlowRider would be a perfect answer. The FlowRider is available every Thursday night from 7pm – 11pm. It’s time to get wet and wild, surf to the sound of music, watch the lights and the stars, and just enjoy a night in the tropical paradise.
