Nyepi Day 25th March 2020

On Nyepi day, which is New Year’s day in the Balinese Saka Calendar, the island of Bali turns off all lights and sounds, stops all traffic, deserts all worldly activities, and meditates, while complete silence and serenity reigns over the entire island.

No flights in or out of Bali in 25th March and the airport is closed.   The night before purification ceremonies take place. It is one of the best times to capture the iconic Balinese processions in motion, as parasols, banners and small effigies offer a cultural spectacle.
