Chef Competition – Bali Dynasty wins 2 Silver & 7 Bronze medals in esteemed 12th Salon Culinary Comp

6-8th March 2024, The culinary team from the Bali Dynasty Resort recently participated in a chef competition organized by Food Hotel and Tourism Bali, which was attended by various countries around Asia. The competition consisted of 5 categories, ranging from young chefs to professionals. Bali Dynasty Resort itself sent 14 chefs to compete in this event in the categories of Chinese, Asian, Western, Dessert, and Fruit Carving cuisines.

Out of the total 14 chefs who competed in this prestigious event, we achieved 2 silver medals and 7 bronze medals, earned by: I Ketut Andy Sanjaya Putra and Agus Dedy Gunawan, who competed in the Asian Wok Fried Rice category and won silver medals, followed by Putu Dedi Hermawan who won a bronze medal. In the Plated Dessert category, it was achieved by I Gusti Agus Adi Pratama, followed by I Wayan Ari Sumantara in the Dress the Salad by Perambanan Kencana category, I Gusti Made Nova Sanjaya in the Pasta Main Course Western Style category, I Putu Krisna Wiratama and I Kadek Sujana in the Fruit & Vegetable Carving "Freestyle" category, and Fernandino in the Modern Chinese Cuisine by Lee Kum Kee-Professional Chefs category.

This activity marked their first participation in the Salon Culinary, particularly the 12th edition. All participants gained valuable experience from this event and motivated them to strive for excellence and continue to evaluate their culinary journey, especially in serving food for the guests of Bali Dynasty Resort.

Tour of the Month - Mason Adventures

Mason Adventures stands out as one of Bali’s premier tour operators. In 2017, the company introduced its newest tourism endeavor, the Jungle Buggies. Nestled in Tatag Village only 3 km from the renowned Elephant Safari Park & Lodge at Taro, this activity promises an exciting and intense driving experience through Bali’s lush tropical forests, adding a fresh dimension to your Bali getaway.

Mason uses high-end buggies crafted by ‘Polaris’, a globally recognized brand leader in off-road innovation. Guests can choose from a single-seater buggy, or share a double-seater with a friend. For those less confident behind the wheel, the Tandem Buggy option allows you to ride alongside a professional buggy driver, ensuring a stress-free and thrilling adventure. Both models are built for intense work on and off the beaten track while providing a smooth ride. With certified roll cages, three-point seatbelts, and safety nets, safety is paramount throughout your jungle drive.

The meticulously designed private track by Nigel Mason, spanning 4.5 km per lap through Bali’s tropical forests, offers an exciting journey for adventure seekers. Each Jungle Buggy excursion consists of a minimum of 2 laps and will begin and finish at the new Koko Bambu Restaurant. Following the adventure, guests can savor a delectable set menu lunch overlooking Bali’s dense tropical woods, either from the dining table or the infinity poolside. Once you’re done, do pop in to the onsite Mason Gourmet Chocolate Factory & Showroom, where you can indulge in chocolate tasting and cocktails while learning about chocolate making.

Excitingly, guests can combine the Jungle Buggy tour with other popular activities offered by Mason Adventures, including white water rafting, elephant safaris, bicycling, and more, thanks to the close proximity of their various locations.

Charity Update

Sole Family Bali

Established in 2011, Yayasan Solemen Indonesia is a non-profit health organization that has earned a strong reputation as one of the respected NGOs in Bali.

Caring for over 800 families, the responsibility to help goes beyond individual Sole Buddies. That's why Solemen has embraced a new name to reflect a broader mission – Sole Family Bali.

Sole Family Bali is passionately committed to easing the suffering in Bali through community outreach, medical intervention, food aid, education, and disaster response when needed. The activities of Sole Family Bali aim to benefit the sick, the poor, the disabled, and the marginalized across Bali.

Sole Family Bali strives to change the lives of people of all ages and religions in Bali by offering hope and sustainable solutions to those who struggle to access healthcare. Currently, Sole Family Bali looks after the daily needs of nearly three thousand "Sole Buddies."

This month, we are supporting individuals such as Putra, who is in his 20s and resides in Singaraja. He is severely disabled and relies on a wheelchair for mobility. However, he struggles to remain stationary, which quickly wears out his current wheelchair. He is in need of a new one.

Gunawan is a young boy who is just beginning to walk. He requires a custom-made walking frame, which will be crafted by a welder.

Wayan, who suffers from severe cerebral palsy, is cared for by her elderly grandparents. She, along with her grandparents, is in need of a new mattress (covered), pillows, bedding, and wheelchair. Additionally, her grandparents require a comfortable mattress, pillows, and bedding.

Wisma Kasih Bunda Foundation 

Wisma Kasih Bunda Foundation is a shelter located in Semarang, Central Java, founded by fashion designer Anne Avantie. Its mission is to provide healthcare and support for children with special needs, particularly those with hydrocephalus. The foundation offers medical assistance, including surgeries and treatments, and also engages in social programs like 'Jumat Berkah' to provide aid to those in need. With the goal of improving the lives of over 2,500 children with special needs and their families, Wisma Kasih Bunda Foundation provides comprehensive care and support services.

WWF – World Wide Fund for Nature

Our planet, Earth, is rich in natural resources like air, water, soil, plants, animals, minerals, and land, enabling human life and prosperity. However, during our relatively short time here, humans have overused these resources, posing a threat to the long-term health of our planet.

WWF believes in an alternative approach to human prosperity, one that involves using natural resources sustainably. This means balancing our basic needs with the crucial need to preserve the natural environment. A sustainable future ensures we live within our capabilities, providing a good quality of life for generations to come.

In partnership with WWF, we are committed to our sustainability journey, working at every stage to reduce our environmental impact. Together, we explore solutions that positively impact the environment and establish sustainability standards. We currently hold a three-star rating with WWF. Dynasty Rewards

As an appreciation for your support in referring people to stay at the Bali Dynasty Resort, we have launched the Referral Programme which will allow you to collect points by referring new guests to stay at the Bali Dynasty Resort.

This programme is part of the Dynasty Rewards programme. You will earn points starting from 100 points for every booking you refer. These points will be added to your Rewards Account once your referee has checked out, which means you have the opportunity to earn points faster even when you are not in the resort but you must make sure that the person you are referring includes your Rewards Membership number when making the reservation!

Wonderful family hotel. I have stayed at this hotel throughout my life at various ages and it really caters to everyone. Fantastic kids club for the days the kids want to play and the adults want to relax. While the kids water playground is starting to get old and shows signs of needing an upgrade, it still serves its purpose and the kids love it. The children’s pools are at good depths for little ones to play safely. The pool at the bottom of the water slide is deeper and there is a lifeguard on duty at all times. Very helpful when I have five children who don’t always listen. Great choice of restaurants with my all-time favorite, Gracie Kelly’s still being part of the hotel. Breakfast buffet is one of the best I’ve experienced in Bali, with large variety and great bacon! Cleanliness and maintenance of the hotel was great. Housekeeping did a fantastic job daily; we all loved the towel animals left on the bed. It was raining for some of our visit and the floors were regularly dried to help prevent slips and trips. The fish ponds and gardens were always beautifully kept. We found a small garden full of orchids which we visited every day on the way to breakfast. Our flight was changed last minute and the hotel was very accommodating to help with a later than usual checkout (for extra $$ but that’s expected). Will always recommend this hotel for family holidays and will definitely be back. - KLa Vee, Australia

Just returned from 7 nights with my family of five (kids aged 16, 4 and 8 months). We originally booked the kids suite, however we changed to a family lagoon/pool access room mid-trip, and it made the whole trip 1000 x better! The rooms themselves are pretty much the same, but we used the pool 10x more compared to when we were in the kid’s suite. We just found it much easier with 3 kids getting in and out of the pool and the baby was able to nap while we swam too, which was awesome. I just wish we changed sooner! Hotel had lots of variety, great activities for kids, and some great gluten free options also. - lizzy87, Australia

Traditional looking hotel set in a beautiful Garden setting very close to the beach. Great rooms, very clean, but maybe slightly dated. We stayed in a Pool View Family room which gave great access to the main pool, and a bit of privacy from the kids. One of the main restaurants was closed for renovations, but there were still ample food choices with their menu currently being served at an alternative bar area. The staff were very helpful and polite. We had breakfast included, which was excellent, great selection and service. There was also lots of choice, and for other meals there was very reasonable prices from the onsite pub and restaurant – Angela C

The complete holiday at the Dynasty was excellent, from booking through to departure. The staff were amazing, and the facility, while having a significant renovation, ran very smoothly with minimal disruption. And the food was great from Golden Lotus to the buffet.
