Bali Dynasty Resort Reaches Out to the Community Through Solemen

As we all know, the world has never been challenged like this on such a wide spread level. During these difficult times, Bali Dynasty Resort remains committed to reaching out to those less fortunate with in the local community. In partnership with Solemen Indonesia and under the banner “Help Friends For Life”, the resort recently delivered basic items of survival to the disadvantage people in Bali.

These donations were directed to Solemen’s Outreach program specifically for the poor, the disadvantaged, the ‘diffabled’, the homeless and the marginalised. Essential goods were also delivered to those who are currently staying at Bali Dynasty Resort’s Recovery Centre formerly known as SoleHouse, a care facility replicating a nurturing home environment that provides the necessary assistance and resources required to keep families together before, during, and after medical treatment.

Bali Dynasty Resort was able to raise funds for this initiative through its 2-dollar upon check-out program or the option for guests to drop spare coins in the charity boxes placed all around the resort. There is also a twice-a-week Quiz Night every Tuesday at 7.30pm and Thursday at 8.45pm in the relaxed ambience of Gracie Kelly’s. Additionally, our charity account balance has been boosted through regular bingo games, village walks and by selling cute SoleTeddy bears. These actions alone have enabled Bali Dynasty Resort to provide rice, sugar, noodles, soap, tea, coffee, cooking oil, shampoo, toothpaste, sanitary productsandmany other items to people in need.

In collaboration with CGAM Global, the resort had also been able to donate a large number of protective face masks to Solemen.

We’d like to thank to everyone for their kindness and generosity in supporting all of our worthwhile charity projects

Stay Fit and Healthy at Home

The extensive social distancing policies put in place to limit the spread of COVID-19 mean that most people now have to spend most, if not all, of their time at home.

Self-isolation means far fewer opportunities to be physically active, especially if you are used to walking /cycling for transportation or participating in outdoor sports.

But equally worryingly, the home environment also offers abundant opportunity to be sedentary (sitting or reclining). While self-isolation measures are necessary, our bodies and minds still need exercise to function well, prevent weight gain and keep the spirits up during these challenging times.

Exercise can help keep our immune system strong, less susceptible to infections and their most severe consequences, and better able to recover from them.

Even before the restrictive conditions were announced, physical inactivity cost 5.3 million lives a year globally.

So, we should consider ways to limit the effects of the impact of the COVID-19 crisis, as well as its wider impact of contributing to the long-term chronic disease crisis.

The World Health Organization has recommended some physical activities to keep you healthy and fit during self-isolation. Here are some of the things that you can do at home;

  • Sit less

Take breaks from continuously sitting in front of your computer, tablet or smart-phone every 20 – 30 minutes. Take a 1 – 2-minute walk around the house or play with your pet. Try to alternate between sitting and standing, wherever possible, by creating a standing desk area.

  • Make stairs your new best friend

Stair climbing is an extremely time-efficient way to maintain fitness and as little as three 20-second fast stair-climbs a day can improve fitness in only 6 weeks.

  • Maintain strength using your own bodyweight

Research shows that bodyweight home-based strength exercises such as press-ups, sit-ups, and planks are as important for health as aerobic exercise. Aim for at least a couple of bodyweight sessions per week, 2-4 sets of 8-15 repetitions of each exercise and 2-3 minutes rest between sets.

  • Dance the covid-19 blues away

Dancing is an excellent way to protect the heart and maintain fitness. It can easily reach moderate and even vigorous intensity exercise, while releasing endorphins to help you get through the lonely days.

  • Give pets and kids more playtime than they’ve ever had

It’s a good opportunity to bond more with the little 2 and 4 legged members of your family through active play. Both kids and dogs/cats will welcome more one-on-one time with you and you’ll increase the amount of exercise you get by allocating time to keep them busy.

We hope these suggestions are useful for you to try at home. For more ideas, please can visit www.theconversation.com.

Check South Kuta Out

South Kuta is a district in Badung Regency, Bali, Indonesia, located on the southern part of the island. There are a lot of great things to do in the area and it is a wonderful destination with upscale beachfront resorts, shopping centre, and awesome attractions that are simply too good to miss. South Kuta is a convenient tourist hub, especially for families. It offers an array of activities ranging from swimming, surfing and sun-bathing to shopping, dining, after-dark entertainment and more.

Bali Dynasty Resort is located in the South Kuta area and we have compiled a list of some of the best things to experience when you stay with us. Simply tick off what you may have already done.

  • Visit Waterbom

Waterbom Bali is one of Kuta’s oldest institutions and is not to be missed, especially if you are travelling with children. This is one of the largest water parks in Bali and you will find a huge number of rides here such as the Boomerang and the Superbowl, and if you are feeling brave, there are sheer drop slides such as the Climax. For younger children there are also children’s pools and some eateries where you can get snacks and light meals to keep you going throughout the day.

  • Go Shopping at Beachwalk

If you want to go to the mall in Kuta then look no further than Beachwalk, which runs along the main strip adjacent to the beach. The mall is one of the newest in the area and has everything you could want with a mix of international shops, restaurants, and cafes. There are many surf wear/gear options available as well as a gallery on the upper floor where you can find out more about Indonesian textiles.Apart from handicraft shops selling souvenirs, a rooftop bar provides a relaxing place to hang out complete withmusic by a resident DJ.

  • Admire Vihara Dharmayana Kuta

For a little bit of culture in Kuta head to Vihara Dharmayana which is also sometimes called Leeng Gwan Kuta Temple or Kongco Bio Kuta Chinese Temple. This is one of the main religious venues in Kuta and it sits in a leafy backstreet, but you will still be able to spot it from afar thanks to its ornate roof. Vihara Dharmayana is a Buddhist temple which is said to be over two centuries old and you will find intricate carvings here as well as colourful murals and a scenic courtyard which is covered in aromatic sticks of incense.

  • Kuta Theatre: Sneak Peek into Balinese Culture

Kuta Theatre is one of the best new venues in Bali for anyone looking for something to do with children. The theatre is made up of a series of stages and shows where you can enjoy varied performances such as puppets and magicians. There are also light drama performances including the signature Lights of Faith show, which is based on a traditional story weaved through with modern touches. The shows take place in the evening and you can also enjoy a dinner package so that you can watch as you dine.

  • Visit Bali Sea Turtle Society

Bali Sea Turtle Society is a turtle hatchery based in Kuta that works to protect turtle eggs and then releases the hatched turtles back into the wild. You can join in the activity and watch as these cute little turtles take their first steps into the great ocean during hatching season from April to October. The hatchery works to protect olive ridley turtles and for a token donation, you can choose your own turtle and help it to swim off into the sea. This educational experience will teach you more about the plight of turtles in Indonesia, many of which are currently endangered.

  • Enjoy 5GX Bali Reverse Bungee

If you are looking for an adrenalin packed ride in Kuta then head to 5GX Bali Reverse Bungee. Here you can sit inside a bungee seat and then get catapulted into the air at speeds that can reach 200 kilometres per hour. As many as three people in your group can enjoy this at the same time and it is not for the faint of heart, although if you can keep your eyes open then you can enjoy some amazing views over Kuta during the ride.

  • Kedonganan Beach Food Fiesta

For those who love to spend time at the beach, Kedonganan Beach is another delightful spot just out of Kuta blessed with gentle waters and pristine white sand. The place is also known for its casual beachfront cafes serving authentic seafood cooked traditionally over smoky coconut husks. Afternoons are a bit noisy here as the place gets buzzed up with tourists looking for scrumptious local delicacies. Explore the best restaurants in Kuta here!

  • The Bali Bombing Memorial: Pay A Solemn Tribute

Also called the Ground Zero Monument, it is one of those places to visit in Kuta, Indonesia which stands as a symbol of human resilience in the face of terror. This beautiful and well-maintained memorial is a grim reminder of the senseless loss of innocent lives in the 2002 Kuta bombings. It is indeed a moving experience to visit the place and spend few contemplative moments praying for those who lost their lives. This ornately carved stone memorial has the names of the victims on a simple marble plaque. It is open at all hours and lit up every night (Source: www.traveltriangle.com)
