Charity Update: The 27th Back to Bali Dynasty Party

The 27th annual fundraising event, Back to Bali Dynasty Party held in Perth, Australia was epic this year with record-breaking attendance. As the resort’s biggest annual fundraising event, this year’s party was attended by more than 200 loyal guests for an evening of fabulous food and fun. It was once again made possible by the generosity of major sponsors such as AirAsia, Asia Escape Holidays and HelloWorld Travel Limited.

This year’s Back to Bali Dynasty Party attracted an energetic crowd of Perth people. It was officially hosted by General Manager of Bali Dynasty Resort, Mr.Didit Indra. Numerous performances throughout the evening, such as live acoustic music by Hendra and upbeat tunes by DJ Steve featuring the iconic Cebolino, kept everyone entertained. Dinner was an impressive three-course set menu of delicious Balinese cuisine prepared by Chef Suastika and his kitchen team.

Bali Dynasty Resort was able to raise thousands of dollars through an auction and the sale of raffle tickets. There were some great prizes on offer, including return flights for two people to Bali sponsored by AirAsia, hotel accommodation vouchers, entry tickets to various Bali activities, and much more.

All proceeds will be directed to Bali Dynasty’s Charity Account in an effort to alleviate the suffering of individuals in Bali through a collaborative partnership between the resort and Solemen Indonesia. Launched in February 2016, the project is called “Help Friends for Life” and it has since supported many SoleBuddies with their ongoing long-term care and educational needs. A significant number of one-off donations have also been made in the form of wheelchairs, prosthetic legs and covering varying medical treatments.

Bali Dynasty Resort’s biggest charity achievement to date has been the funding of Bali Dynasty Resorts’ Recovery Centre last year – this is a supporting facility within the new Solemen Centre, replacing the previous SoleHouse. The Bali Dynasty Recovery Centre is a comfortable home environment where patients can recuperate after surgery or treatment. There is also a self-contained room for patients requiring isolated care. In addition, a Solemen Car was purchased to transport people in need to the hospital for free. Other initiatives have included the installation of community toilets and shower blocks for an impoverished extended family group in North Bali, giving 26 people access to basic bathroom facilities and proper hygiene.

Bali Events

The Bali Spirit Festival is a fun festival that brings together yoga, music and dance into one fun event. Held annually in Ubud, this event has grown over the years, so much so that it attracts thousands of visitors from all over the world

During the day, there will be various activities scheduled including yoga workshops, traditional Balinese performances, Bhakti Music, Kirtan, Capoeira, meditation, sound healing and ecstatic dance. There will also be a choice of informative seminars focused on health, nutrition, self-help and Vedic astrology, just to name a few. You can take part in any of the yoga workshops by bringing your own mat if you are able to. However, a limited number of yoga mats will be available for sale at the festival venue. After dark, there will be music concerts with a huge line up of acts including traditional Balinese music, DJ’s and electronic music.

For kids, there will be arts and crafts, dance and music workshops, storytelling plus so much. Most materials are provided so the kids don’t have to bring anything. The festival will also kick off with a Community Day (also named Family Day). Here, you will find classes, performances and workshops for families and children with all proceeds funding the festival Outreach Programs – AYO! Kita Bicara HIV & AIDS and Bali ReGreen.

This year, the event will be held at ARMA Resort from 29th March – 5thApril 2020. There will be a shuttle service between central Ubud and the daytime and night-time festival venues. If you would like to use this service, please purchase an ‘Abundance Pass’ or a ‘Spirit Shuttle Pass’.

Cultural Calendar

Nyepi is an important Hindu holiday in Bali that is referred to as the ‘Day of Silence’. It is held at the start of the Balinese year, usually around March or April.

As a public holiday of religious significance, you will find that most locals will spend the day in quiet contemplation.Silence, fasting and meditation allow devoutfollowers of the Hindu faith to engage in self-introspection. This generally means that any activity that might distract this process is not permitted.

This explains why, during the Balinese New Year celebrations, the locals do not work, travel or entertain. It is the reason why visitors to Bali at this time will encounter deserted streets, empty entertainment venues and quiet neighbourhoods. However, on the evening before Nyepi, there will be parades throughout the streets of Bali with youngsters carrying huge monster effigies calledogoh-ogoh.

When planning for your holiday around this period, take note that there is very little activity outside your hotel, on the beaches and the streets. Shops will be closed and even Denpasar Airport remains closed all day. Only emergency operations to save lives and deliver expectant women are carried out.

It is expected that all visitors will respect the traditions of the Balinese people during Nyepi and will resume their respective itineraries in the subsequent days.

I Made Muda Nugraha - Employee of the Month/ Front of the House

I Made Muda Nugraha, or Made as he likes to be called, was recently acknowledged as our Employee of the Month ‘Front of the House’. Muda has been working for the Bali Dynasty Resort for fourteen years and he first started his career as a waiter. As a proud dad, he is known for his ability to sing and painting.

Ni Made Partini Asih - Employee of the Month/ Heart of the House

Ni Made Partini Asih has been recognised as our Employee of the Month – ‘Heart of the House’. Partini has been working for the Bali Dynasty Resort as Laundry Assistant for 26 years. A proud mom of two and one grand child, amongst her colleagues, known to be pro-active within the workplace and a humble person who is always willing to help others.

I Ketut Suwitera - Supervisor of the Quarter

I Ketut Suwitera or Suwitera, won the title Supervisor of The Quarter IV (October – December). Suwitera, a dad of 3, has been working for 29 years at the Bali Dynasty Resort as Housekeeping Assistant. Well done Suwitera, congratulations!

We changed hotels whilst in Bali and came here. We received a warm welcome and speedy check in. Rooms large and comfortable with good air on which is a must. Pool area large with lots of sun beds and swim up bar. Plenty of restaurants and bars. Food good from sandwiches to full dinner. A good choice at breakfast. Hotel has very good facilities for children so lots of kids. There is a kid slide area in a separate pool and a huge slide for everyone to use there are also non-kid areas. The spa is lovely. Centrally located in the Kuta market, the resort is very kid friendly and ideal for small groups of families and friends. The rooms are neat and clean. The pool is decent, restaurants too are good. Service is excellent and cordial staff are ready to help. Outside the resort you have the famous Queens restaurant serving Indian food and a number of super markets to serve your needs.
