Back to Bali Dynasty Night in Perth
On February 12th at the Italian Club in WA it was our 18th ‘Back to Bali Dynasty’ Party, our biggest Charity Fundraiser of the year!
With resounding support from our travel partners in Perth and Bali including Asia Escape Holidays, Creative Holidays, Freestyle Holidays, New Horizons and Qantas/Viva who consistently support the event as well as local sponsors from Bali Taksu and Bintang beer the night was a great success with over 350 people enjoying a sumptuous rijstafel prepared by a team from the Bali Dynasty Resort.
The annual event has been the major fundraiser for the Bali Dynasty Resort Charity Effort which was established in 2000 in conjunction with the East Bali Poverty Project to give hope to over 72 impoverished Children in North Eastern Bali through education.
Everyone was entertained by a Live Band and as always the highlight of the event was the raffle; with over 140 prizes from Bali's local attractions as well as 10 airline tickets which were donated courtesy of Air Asia (Grand Prize pictured), Strategic Airlines and Garuda Indonesia.
Congratulations to all our Winners!
We would like to thank all of our guests in attendance for your generous support to the Raffle, we raised in excess of AU$7.000 on raffle ticket sales alone!

Bali Boys on Tour Down Under
We recently took some of our staff down to Australia for the ‘Back to Bali Dynasty’ Party.
For some of them it was their first time to Australia, here are a few of their observations and first impressions.
“Where are all the Motorbikes?” Anom, Gracie Kelly’s.
“The Aussies over here are so kind and welcome us to Australia. There’s so much to see and great things to buy” Kertawijaya, Gracie Kelly’s.
“It’s really nice to see our guests and where they live. Australia is really different from Bali, but we all really like it here.” Ardika, Duty Manager.
“The food is so different here, a lot of us are missing our rice and noodles, ha ha, you can really get all types of food here, we have to try different things” Suastika, Executive Chef.
St. Patrick's Night at Gracie Kelly's
March 17th, St. Patrick ’s Day has become an institution around the world as a day to don your best green outfit and celebrate hard in true Irish style.
But did you know that the person who was to become St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland, was born in Wales about AD 385. His given name was Maewyn, and he almost didn't get the job of bishop of Ireland because he lacked the required scholarship.
After changing his name to Patrick, his mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years. After that time, Patrick retired to County Down. He died on March 17th in AD 461. That day has been commemorated as St. Patrick's Day ever since.
It’s one of the biggest nights of the year in Gracie Kelly’s when everyone and everything turns green. With prizes for the best green outfits, a Bartender Show, Drinking Competition and green Beer and Cocktails on sale with our resident band the Rais Paddies rocking the blarney stone off it’s foundations, it’s sure to be a night not to be missed….…..to be sure!
Ogoh Ogoh Parade at Bali Dynasty
Nyepi, the day of silence in Bali is on the 5th March. The evening before Nyepi on the 4th March, traditionally at Bali Dynasty Resort we make an Ogoh Ogoh (a paper mache statue) and parade it around the hotel to scare off any evil spirits that may lurk there, then sacrificially take it to the beach to burn.
Before we do that we ask as many hotel guests as possible to dress up in a sarong and head band and help us carry the Ogoh Ogoh.
Apart from being a lot of fun, it’s a great photo opportunity and a chance be a part of the Nyepi tradition. If you are with us at that time we invite you to join us outside the Kertagosa Ballroom at 5pm, where we will dress you up, give you a traditional blessing, an arak to keep the other spirits from harming you and a musical instrument to make as much noise as possible.
Bring your cameras!
Nyepi day at the hotel
Saturday the 5th March is Hari Raya Nyepi, the New Year for Balinese Hindus celebrating the Caka Year of 1933. Many colourful ceremonies and rituals are held throughout the Island.
A few dyas prior to Nyepi a Purification Ceremony, known locally as “Melasti”, is held. Offerings and holy objects such as statues and “kris” line the path of the colourful procession leading to the beach for a ritual cleansing. Flowers fill the beach and prayers fill the air as pilgrims cleanse themselves in the sea.
The climax of ritual activity is on the eve of Nyepi, the darkest night of the new moon. During these solemn, powerful hours, priests throughout Bali will be praying to appease the demons and honor the Gods in an attempt to harmonize the conflicting universal powers of good and evil. It is also the night of the Ogoh Ogoh (paper mache statues) parade and not to be missed.
The 5th March is the first day of the Caka New Year, also known as Hari Raya Nyepi (Nyepi day), is a Day of Complete Silence in Bali. The whole island will be void of people on the streets (since it is mandatory for everyone to stay indoors) or on the hotel premises and there shall be no noise, no lights and no activities whatsoever. The airport will be closed for this day too.
The whole island of Bali will appear deserted and therefore it is believed that the evil spirits will pass over the island.
Nyepi in Bali is an amazing experience if you are lucky enough to be here for it.
The construction of our new Poolside Restaurant has began in earnest with the demolishing of the Tropical cafe and the old water tower. The new restaurant will be called H20.
The former icon of the Dynasty is proving to be a tough adversary as the main top section is removed to make way for our new two storey restaurant and bar. The new facility will provide an all weather venue for dining as well as provide much needed additional seating capacity, especially for breakfast.
The project is planned to be completed around the end of April.
During the project our themed Dinners have moved to SEN5ES Restaurant.
A Light Snack menu is available around the poolside during the day time.
All other facilities will be available as normal. For more details CLICK HERE

Our Star Performers
Every month we hold a staff gathering, where we celebrate our staff birthdays and present an update on new hotel products and services. Here are our winners for January 2011. These staff have excelled in their duties and the services offered to our guests. We also have a Guest Nomination Award and this award is chosen by our guests who fill in the guest feedback forms before they check out.
This month we are also including our Supervisor of the Quarter.
Our Employee of the Month for Front of the House is Komang Gede Artayana, or if you frequent the Sunset bar, the ever smiling Arti.
Arti has been with Bali Dynasty since 1990 and is happily married with three children in Denpasar.
Arti’s passion is mixing Cocktails and is always looking for new recipes to try out on guests.
Our Employee of the Month Heart of the House is Putu Ari Sitadewi, or Ari to her friends. Having joined Bali Dynasty in 2009, Ari is relatively new, but has made a quick reputation as one of the characters of the Accounting Department where she works as she is quick to join in any and all department activities. Ari is still single and lives in Jimbaran.
Our Supervisor of the Quarter for the period October to December 2010 is Gede Semarapada. You will see Gede at the Lobby as one of our Supervisors as he assists guests to their room, or you may even meet him at the airport during your arrival. Gede has been with Bali Dynasty since 1996 and is married with two children. Gede reckons all his spare time is dedicated to helping his parents look after their large house in Tabanan.
Finally our Guest Nomination for January 2011 is Dewa Gede Adi Tirta, or Dewa. This is the second month Dewa has been given the Guest Nomination Award and he has certainly made a name for himself for going the extra mile at the Tropical café where he works. Having joined Bali Dynasty in late 2009, Dewa is single and lives in Denpasar.
Congratulations to all our Winners!
